Overview

Stalemate in deciding. Both alternatives are visible, both have a cost, and you postpone the choice hoping circumstances will decide. They won't — the pause costs more than the choice.

Reversed

The stalemate breaks — either you make a choice, or one option falls away on its own. Relief at the pause ending, even if the choice was hard. Or: fear so strong you consciously choose not to choose.
